Gabe and Emma’s Wedding – Sonoma, California

April, 25, 2025 | Cline Family Cellars

The wind blew softly between the weeping willows. Warm classical music filled the chilly air while we waited in anticipation for sweet Emma to come walking down the aisle with her Dad. It was a perfect spring afternoon in Sonoma, California – clouds, which is normally a photographer’s delight, but I couldn’t help but feel so giddy any time the sun wanted to peak through.

And then the big moment finally came. Everyone stood up. The bridesmaids had tears filling their eyes – this was their best friend. One of the most Jesus-loving people they knew. So joyful. Such a bright light full of life. And now the long-awaited moment was here – it was her turn to walk down the aisle to the man of her dreams, to make a covenant before God and all present. To proclaim the gospel, and make a covenant with Gabe for life.

I loved how much Gabe and Emma really wanted to use their wedding as a chance to point people to the greatest news in the world – the gospel. At one point during their ceremony, they took communion, something I had seen at other weddings. But what I hadn’t seen was having the whole bridal party serve bread and juice to everyone present – anyone who wanted to participate with the bride and groom in the Lord’s supper.

Of course, the ceremony flew by, like most ceremonies do. But it’s one of my favorite times, because as the photographer this is the point where I usually get to slow down a little and just watch what is happening. I had spent that sunny morning capturing all the details, the bride and the girls, the groomsmen, and getting a lot of family photos out of the way. I had been waiting for this moment ever since Emma walked up to the espresso machine at my barista job last fall in Texas, and asked me to photograph her wedding in California. Um, yes?!! I was ecstatic.

Pastor Rich shared the gospel, talked about covenant, and announced Gabe and Emma before God and us as husband and wife.

My favorite photo from the day (above)  – When Emma and Gabe were first married. All the beautiful color that is happening in this image, with the all the spring green and palms and florals and her dress and Gabe’s tenderness…crying.

It was so fun to not only be friends with the bride but also already be friends with some of the bridal party – and get to travel with them from Texas to Cali to make this thing happen! These are some of the best people and they made this the best day!

Emma’s florals were definitely a favorite of mine – they were so wild and free, and vibrant! They were perfect for her.

I really loved how everything was outdoors – the wedding, the dinner, the dancing, everything. Was it starting to get a bit chilly? Yes. But were we thriving? YES!!

This was an unforgettable day for all present, and I will treasure it always!! So thankful for this opportunity from the Lord!! He is so good.
